HEMP
Scientifically known as cannabidiol, CBD is one of the two major chemicals in cannabis that produce psychoactive effects. Unlike THC which produces the “high” associated with marijuana, the noticeable effects of CBD are mild-to-nonexistent.
Although research on CBD is still in its early stages, it is already showing promise as a treatment for a wide range of conditions due to its ability to bind to receptors in both our nervous and immune systems.
In 2018, CBD was approved by the FDA for the treatment of seizure disorders. Ongoing studies suggest that it may additionally be effective at relieving symptoms associated with everything from anxiety, insomnia, and pain, to Parkinson’s, Tourette’s, multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, galucoma, PTSD and more.
Sometimes referred to as the “Mother Cannabinoid,” all of the active components of cannabis (like THC & CBD) begin their life as CBG (or cannabigerol). By the time a cannabis plant reaches maturity, very little CBG remains.
Although little research has been done on the therapeutic benefits of CBG, it holds promise for the ways it mimics the natural cannabinoids our bodies already produce, uniquely binding to adrenal and serotonin receptors in addition to the neural and immune receptors with which CBD and THC interact.
What studies have been conducted so far have demonstrated that CBG has observable anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties and that it may be effective for treating pain, anxiety, and more. Just like CBD, it does not produce the “high” normally associated with THC.
CBN (or cannabinol) is a unique compound that forms in harvested cannabis plants as THC oxidizes and breaks down over time. It was the first cannabinoid discovered (way back in 1896!) and was originally believed to be the plant’s major psychoactive component.
Because it naturally derives from THC, CBN does produce a “high” – but at only a quarter of the strength of THC. It offers a number of the same therapeutic benefits as THC, but because it interacts more strongly with our immune systems, it may have more powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
Although CBN is commonly marketed as a sleep aid, very little research exists to back up that claim. Preliminary results from ongoing studies suggest that while CBN may not help people fall asleep more quickly, it may improve the quality and duration of sleep.
While individual cannabinoids like CBD, CBN, and THC may have therapeutic value on their own, repeated studies have shown that they work best when used in combination with each other. This phenomenon is known as the “entourage effect,” and it’s the reason why many people prefer whole-plant (aka “Full Spectrum”) extracts over chemically-isolated cannabinoids.
In this case, both CBD and THC compete for the same chemical receptors in our bodies, producing a weaker “high” when taken together than THC does on its
own. But because CBD lasts longer in our bodies, the effects of the cannabinoids also last longer in our systems while simultaneously amplifying each other’s therapeutic benefits.
In 2018, the US Farm Bill officially legalized the sale and transport of hemp and hemp-derived products like CBD across the United States. This includes any hemp-based product that contains less than 0.3% THC by total weight.
Because our gummies are made with natural THC that is directly extracted from hemp plants (we do not use chemically-manufactured THC like most Δ8 and Δ9 THC products), and because those THC levels fall well below the 0.3% threshold, our gummies are legal for purchase in most US states.
Multiple studies published over the last several years have suggested that while CBD may offer multiple therapeutic benefits, some of those benefits are only realized at relatively high levels. In the case of pain and anxiety, real relief seems to occur at dosages of roughly 1mg for every 2 pounds of body weight. This means the average person would need between 50mg and 100mg of CBD before any of their symptoms would begin to improve.
Moreover, every person’s body reacts differently to different chemicals. Some people simply need higher dosages because their bodies have difficulty metabolizing cannabinoids or because their tolerances increase with regular usage.
Simply put, yes. This is especially true with medications that affect your liver. While reported instances of negative interactions appear to be rare, very little is still known. Always consult with a doctor first before taking new drugs or remedies, even if they’re “all natural.”
OUR PRODUCTS
YES. Our CBD products are made with a full-spectrum hemp oil that has not been processed to remove the THC component. This means they contain a very small amount of THC, though less than 1mg per gummy (far below the legal limit).
While this means that our gummies are unsuitable for anyone subject to regular drug tests, we have chosen to use it because we find it offers the best therapeutic results due to the “Ensemble Effect.”
We may offer zero-THC gummies made with CBD isolate down the road if there’s sufficient demand. We generally avoid using isolate not only because it’s less effective, but also because it’s processed with toxic chemicals that are often difficult to completely remove from the final product.
As someone brilliant once put it: CBD doesn’t get you high, but it still kind of gets you a little high.
While CBD won’t produce the altered sensations you’d expect from smoking marijuana, many people often still experience a very subtle effect. Our CBD additionally contains a very small amount of THC which may be slightly noticeable to some users.
Our CBD + THC products though… yeah, those will definitely get you a little high.
All of our CBD is processed from Maine-grown hemp that is rigorously screened for quality. All of our CBD is guaranteed to be free from microbes, molds, pesticides, and heavy metals.
Each batch of CBD we use is thoroughly tested by Maine’s leading laboratories before we allow it into our facility. You can find a link to the specific test results for the CBD used to make your gummies by following the dedicated QR Code on the packaging.
All of our cannabinoids come directly from hemp plants grown right here in Maine and are extracted using clean, simple processes. We do not use CBD isolate, and we do not use actives that have been chemically converted from CBD like many Δ8 or Δ9 THC products.
Our CBG and CBN are produced through these same processes and isolated though short-chain distillation fractioning. The only chemical used in making our actives is high-test ethanol, aka Everclear, aka Turbo-Vodka.
All of our products are made with sugar and gelatin, which means they are neither diabetic-friendly nor vegan… but they are gluten-free! We do not plan to change our formula because this is the only way to achieve the flavor, texture, and effectiveness that have made our gummies the best-selling gummies in Maine.
While the vast majority of our flavors are natural and organic, some are impossible to achieve without artificial solutions. They are, however, 100% pesticide-free, which is more than most products made with “real fruit” can claim.
All of our gummies have an effective shelf-life of 10 months when left in sealed packaging at room temperature. Over time, however, they may begin to harden – especially in arid climates. Some people have found it helpful to freeze them for long-term storage purposes.
Please note that because our products are made with gelatin, they may melt if left in high-temperature environments for extended periods of time (like a car on a hot day). Melted gummies are still perfectly edible after cooling: the only difference is now they’re ugly.
All of our gummies are infused with what we have found to be an ideal single-serving dosage for most people. If you find the effects of a single gummy too strong, they can easily be cut into pieces.
For our CBD + CBN Night Time gummies, we recommend taking a single gummy at least 30 minutes before sleep. Just remember to brush your teeth after eating one, you know… because of cavities.
We do not recommend starting with our high-dose Bombers unless you have previous experience with these kinds of products. Many people find that our gummies hit harder than they’ve come to expect from other edibles.
Yes. Absolutely. Without a doubt. But that’s just, like… our opinion, man.
Well, no. Not literally. That would be ridiculous. We do, however, believe that everyone has a little Viking inside of them… and his name is Sven and he’s the guy responsible for pulling the lever that makes you want to bang on broken electronic devices to try to get them to start working properly again.
